BFF'S ARE HARD TO FIND!

My Boyfriend was here over the weekend and was trying to find me a friend or two. Talking to our servers at bars trying to get us to exchange digits! I felt like a piece of meat!!! HAHA

I just think that finding friends as an adult is hard. Finding good quality people that you can hang with can be extremely difficult. Think about it. It's tough putting yourself out there....what if that person is not a good match?

I think it's especially tough finding good girlfriends to hang with. Is it because we can be so catty...or because we can be high maintenance sometimes?

I know it'll get easier once I truly get settled in but it'll take a second for sure. It definitely won't happen over night.

So how did you meet your BFF's

You should just tell the boyfriend to move and the problem will be solved. Just kidding.

I met my BFF when I moved. I met her through a friend at work. I went out to dinner with the group and we just hit it off there.

I was 28 and did not want to deal with the bar scene all the time and that is what I feared. My husband pushed me to get involved in bike riding and there is a group that goes riding every Thursday that I have become good friends with as well. I agree that it is a hard step to take but a necessary one to do as well.

Good luck!

We moved up here from Chicago and we made friends through our small group at church. Our small group was made up of couples that were about our age, etc and it was easy to bond with people of similar interests.

I just wanted to say that you are doing a great job and keep up the good work!

Hi Erin,
Try some exercise classes. I met my BFF's at Jazzercise. If you don't meet anybody, at least you will get a workout!
I think the key is to join something you like to do, and by the mere fact you are doing something you enjoy, you will be more open to meeting people.

Hi Erin! Welcome to Milwaukee. I totally understand what you mean about it being hard to find friends as an adult--it's ridiculous!! My suggestion to you would be to get involved with a local community theater group. Whether it's auditioning for a show, helping out with sets, or stage crew, or running a spotlight, or even something as simple as helping find props, I can practically guarantee that you will never find a group as accepting and welcoming as a theater group.

Good luck and keep us listeners posted on how things are going!

I met my BFF on a plane back to Cleveland just after 911. We were both originally from Ohio and were a little nervous to fly - so we kept each other company during our flight.

We exchanged business cards and really didn't reconnect until Summerfest, when I had an extra ticket to the Alicia Keys concert and called her up to see if she wanted to come along. We had a blast at the concert and caught up with her BFF's afterwards at the Jewel concert.

She has since stood up in my wedding and I have become BFF's with her & her girls - every couple of months we have girls night out in Milwaukee and are always gettn' together for sushi, drinks and good conversation!

I'm so glad I was on that flight... I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason and you meet everyone for a reason -

Hang in there - there are amazing people in this city... you'll be surrounded by BFF's before ya know it! Welcome to Milwaukee!

Erin: Welcome to town. I totally know what you are talking about. We've been here a year, and still no BFF... I joined a Newcomer's Club, but I was atleast 20 years younger then everyone else w/o kids... two strikes.

We should have a girls night out event!

Welcome to Milwaukee. If you're like me, I hate going to movies alone. There's a group that meets on Sunday afternoons to go to movies, then meets afterwards for interesting conversation. It's not a dating club. Here's their website. Check it out: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/cinema_singles/

Enjoy!

Hey Erin! I've called in a couple of times.....one today about Vikings and Philly fans, and once about Water Buffalo as the place to eat.... Anywho - on to your blog ;)

I actually put myself out there... Since I already had a myspace account - for networking and friends only, I did a search with "milaukee", places I've worked, or the industry, "female", "friends", etc., in the search box... It may seem very strange to do this - but I'll tell you what - I've made 2 of the dearest friends doing this.

I used to live in St. Louis for 2 years, and when I moved back home to Mil town, I had to do this because most of my friends ran off and got married on me ;) Anyway...it's just my two cents. Good luck!

You all are doing a great job!

Hello Erin, I know exactly what you are saying. It seems the older you get, the harder it is to make friends. I have a brother in town which helps a lot, and my sister lives in Portland, OR. Many of my friends have children and the challenges that go with raising little people, that makes scheduling events tough as well. Keep hanging in there, there's lots of good people out there.
